Web Platform Auditing

You don’t have to be the world’s best programmer to “hack” a website. As an experienced web platform auditor, I look for ways to improve user workflow, site performance, UX/UI experience, and identify potential malware and security vulnerabilities – before they happen.

In this example video, I demonstrate how I took a company’s entire eCommerce website off-line in less than a minute – without login credentials to any of its infrastructures.

Security audits such as this are an essential element of due diligence for owners of revenue-generated websites. A malicious actor or business competitor could have done the same or worse, resulting in thousands, even millions of dollars in lost revenue and damage to the brand’s reputation.

Business Intelligence

The approach to collecting, cleaning, and analyzing intelligence data is anything but cookie-cutter, with each data source employing different technologies, platforms, and data structures. It is a craft, refined by trial and error, that has allowed me to collect hundreds of gigabytes of data from popular social media and eCommerce websites. The final cleansed datasets have given my clients a competitive advantage on pricing, distribution, product design, and more.

This example Excel workbook is a small sample of employee contact and business information I collected from multiple online data sources and merged into a complete dataset. I redacted the individuals’ full last name, email, and phone number for privacy reasons. The full dataset contains over 25,000 unique records.

eCommerce

My passion for eCommerce started at the age of 12 when I sold my parents’ old lawn mower on eBay for $50. In the fifteen years since, I’ve built and managed several Amazon, eBay, and WooCommerce stores selling electronics, computers, clothing, apparel, and beverage products.

Most recently, I oversaw eCommerce and fulfillment operations for a leading clothing and apparel company with online sales of over $1,000,000 and a product catalog of 30,000+ SKUs.

Global Logistics & Supply Chain Operations

While employed as a Junior Consultant at a strategic advisory firm, I advised startups and international businesses on foreign export, US import, domestic intermodal, warehousing, last-mile delivery, and returns management. Working closely with the firm’s Senior Consultants, I helped clients optimize existing distribution as well as establish new domestic infrastructure for international businesses entering the United States.

As part of a small but ambitious team, I helped a Food & Beverage (F&B) client secure warehouse providers who met food safety storage requirements for F&B products. I also served as the intermediary between Senior Consultants, the client and their executive team, and domestic warehouse operators to ensure the standards imposed by big-box retailers were abided by.

Online Advertising

As a former owner and operator of an eCommerce business, I have experience in all aspects of creative, targeting, keyword bidding, and budgeting for paid online advertising. The ad campaigns for Cash4MacBooks were run primarily on Facebook and Google AdWords and targeted audiences across the United States.

Bidding for keywords against much larger companies in the same industry didn’t come cheap, with an average cost per click (CPC) of $3.42. For this reason, a portion of Cash4MacBooks’ $30,000 yearly advertising budget was dedicated solely to testing new in-market audience segments for untapped potential.
